Dr. Chih-Hang Anthony Tang is a newly appointed Assistant Professor in the Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center at Houston Methodist Academic Institute. Dr. Tang received his MD degree from National Defense Medical Center in Taiwan and PhD degree from Brandeis University under the tutelage of Dr. Michael Rosbash (2017 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine). In the Rosbash laboratory, Dr. Tang studied circadian rhythms using fruit flies as a model. He provided the first quantitative assessment of the Drosophila brain clock neurons in response to light stimulation and demonstrated a systems view of light-mediated phase shifting. Later, Dr. Tang did his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Chih-Chi Andrew Hu. Dr. Tang has studied the role of endoplasmic reticulum resident proteins in B cell leukemia with an outstanding publication record. Dr. Tang has been awarded a K22 grant from NCI to support his research.
